Psychotherapy, or personal therapy with counselor, is an intentional interpersonal relationship offered by certified psychotherapist to assist a client in dealing with difficulties of living. It is a talking therapy and aims to increase the individual's sense of well-being. Counselors apply a varied range of techniques based on experiential relationship building communication and behavior change that are aimed to better the psychological health of a patient, or to improve work relationships. Psychotherapy may also be used by practitioners with a number of different qualifications, including clinical psychology and others. It may be unregulated, depending on the jurisdiction. Requirements of these professions vary and often require overgraduate school and supervised clinical experience.
